| SSID | The SSID (service set identifier) can be accessed from within these products' Web-based or Windows-based configuration utilities. Common examples of pre-defined SSIDs are simple names like "wireless," "netgear," "linksys," or "default." An SSID can be changed at any time, as long as the change is also made on all wireless clients. |
| Wireless System Test CSUF campus 3/5/05 |
Summary: I ran a wireless test on CSUF campus, Sat March 5 2005 to check strength of signal, location of signal and security. The campus has 33,000 students located in the city of Fullerton. The campus has about 25 large buildings. The Titan Union, Library and many other buildings are broadcasting 20 to 100 feet from the building. In the middle of the campus is the strongest signal surrounded by four tall buildings. The campus does have a wireless security using JSP (java Server page). The students must have a student ID number and password to login to the network. Also guest can login for 30 minutes but on the outside of the firewall. Results Conclusion: More and more universities across America are using wireless system for their students and facility. They have even applied a reasonable amount of security for all concerned. The wireless system saves a lot of money and adds flexibility |
